《萬川明月》
Jeongjo（正祖，1752‐1800）cannot be left out when speaking of the moon．He dreamed of being a holy monarch based on the view of Confucianism．He wished to become the teacher king who was both the‘King’and‘Teacher’to all of his people and subjects．Accordingly，he considered himself to be‘Owner of the moon，shining over the entire stream（萬川明月主人翁）’．A single moon that is seen in di erent forms in various streams，represent a single logic（理）being displayed through various di erent images depending on the situation．Jeongjo was a king that made a dramatic use of the image of the moon．The「Man Chun Myeung Wor Joo In Ong Ja Seo（萬川明月主人翁自序）」written by Jeogjo，is a profound writing that deals with the changes of the sun，yin and yang，as well as all creations and Neo－Confucianism vision of the universe．Extracted parts that describe the visual image of the moon，are as follows．
